It hasn’t been the easiest of academic years for my fiancée. Between planning a wedding, working four days a week, a Monday through Friday hour-long commute to and from campus, spending two nights a week doing community service, finding time to see me (a fiance that lives upwards of an hour away), all while managing to keep up on her coursework, it’s certainly been stressful for her at times. It’s been hard for her to keep up with friends, to set aside more than a few hours to do what it is she really wants to do, to have any semblance of alone time. I’m sure there have been moments when she wanted nothing more than to keep her foot on the gas and drive right past campus, to call into work with a bad case of the Mondays. And then there are days like yesterday.
Yesterday A was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa honors society. With a 4.0 GPA, she was one of a couple dozen (out of 6,000) to be recognized as exceeding in their disciplines. She makes me a proud fiancee, and she’s going to make me an even prouder husband. Hard work does pay off. A inspires me every day.
